Kassidy J. Wallin

Kass Wallin is a member of the Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Law group. He previously served as an Assistant Attorney General and an O’Hara Honors Program Fellow in Natural Resources Law for the Utah Attorney General’s Office, where he represented the State’s natural resources agencies including the Division of Oil, Gas and Mining; the Division of Water Rights; and the Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands in matters ranging from federal and state court litigation to informal administrative adjudications.

Kass graduated with honors from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2012. While there, he earned a Graduate Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law, received scholarships from the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, and was a William H. Leary Scholar. Immediately prior to joining Parr Brown, he was a litigator at Anderson & Karrenberg. He also completed a clerkship for Judge David Nuffer in the United States District Court for the District of Utah.

Before attending law school, Kass actively participated in the Hinckley Institute of Politics and was selected for an internship in Washington, D.C. for a former United States congressman. Kass previously served on his city’s planning and zoning commission and currently serves on the board of his community’s homeowners association.

Kass regularly advises large industrial clients, including mining and oil and gas companies, sand and gravel operators, as well as agricultural producers and ranchers, ski areas and resorts, and private landowners on water and mineral rights. He has experience with title issues, deeds and easements, purchase and sale agreements, leases, reports of water right conveyance, water user’s claims, change applications, general adjudication procedure and litigation, notices of violation, cessation orders, notices of intention, and other agency enforcement and permitting issues. He also has experience with many matters that collaterally involve water and mineral rights, including real estate transactions and land use approvals.

Kass has been recognized as one of Utah’s Legal Elite by Utah Business magazine in 2021 and 2022 for energy & natural resources, and most recently by Chambers USA – America’s Leading Lawyers for Business in 2022 as an Up and Coming lawyer for his work in natural resources & environment.

When he is not working, Kass enjoys golfing, skiing, and traveling with his family.
