Maria J. DeMarco

Maria is a member of the firm’s litigation practice group with an emphasis on entertainment law, commercial litigation, securities litigation, and real property litigation. Prior to joining the firm, she was a summer associate at Parr Brown.

Maria received her J.D. from the University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law in 2022. At UCLA, she was awarded two Masin Family Academic Excellence Gold Awards for achieving the best grade in her Legal Philosophy course and in her Drug Development & Pharmaceutical Innovation course, respectively.

During law school, Maria was both a Managing Editor and Articles Editor for the Journal of Gender and Law. She served as Student Representative for the Christian Law Student Association and was a member of several other student organizations, including the Business Law Association, Intellectual Property Law Association, and Entertainment Law Association. She was also a researcher with the COVID-19 Behind Bars Data Project, which collects and analyzes information about the coronavirus in carceral facilities in the United States to enable greater oversight of and accountability for their response to the pandemic.

Before attending UCLA, Maria was a student at Emory University School of Law. During her first year of law school at Emory, she was named Top Oral Advocate in her Legal Research, Writing, and Communication course. She served as a research assistant to Jonathan Nash, the Associate Dean for Research and Robert Howell Hall chaired professor who co-directs the Emory Law Center on Federal and Intersystemic Governance. Maria was also selected to be a member of Emory’s Moot Court Society and was a finalist at the Emory Law Stange 1L Moot Court Competition.

Prior to law school, Maria received a B.A. in Communication Studies from Texas Tech University. She graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the Highest-Ranking Graduate distinction in the College of Media and Communication.

During college, she volunteered with the Lubbock Legal Aid Society and served as a Student Assistant at the Texas Success Initiative. Additionally, as a member of the Texas Tech Debate Team, she was named an All-American in National Parliamentary Debate and achieved a national championship title for winning the National Parliamentary Debate season-long sweepstakes, an award which recognizes the top-performing debate team across all tournaments each year.
