Robert Wing represents clients in commercial disputes, particularly those involving fraudulent business practices. Mr. Wing is widely known for his work in receivership cases, where he was instrumental in developing case law. He acted as the court-appointed receiver in SEC v. Vescor, SEC v. 4NExchange, SEC v. Capital Acquisitions, and SEC v. Smart Assets, all of which involved companies operated as Ponzi schemes. He was also appointed receiver in FTC v. Infusion Media, a negative options case. He has represented other receivers in both federal equity receiverships and state-court receiverships. He was one of the founding members and the first president of the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers, which is widely recognized as the premier organization for receivership professionals.

In addition, Mr. Wing has represented clients in numerous class action matters. For example, he was class counsel in Ford v. American Express Financial Advisors which resulted in a large jury award for his clients.

Mr. Wing has also represented commercial clients in a variety of intellectual property, contract, employment, and business disputes. Immediately prior to joining Parr Brown, Mr. Wing was the Director of the White Collar and Commercial Enforcement Division of the Office of the Utah Attorney General. He successfully tried cases enforcing Utah’s consumer protection statutes, including the Consumer Sales Practices Act, the Business Opportunity Disclosure Act, the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, and the Utah Postsecondary Proprietary School Act. He was instrumental in the process to amend Utah law to better protect consumers. He also represented the Utah Division of Securities in securities fraud and licensing matters.

Mr. Wing is also experienced in protecting the public in healthcare matters. He represented Utah’s interests in litigation against the manufacturers and distributors of opioids. He litigated claims against medical professionals who engaged in health care fraud or abused their patients.

Mr. Wing is experienced in emergency proceedings such motions to obtain temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions. He has obtained injunctive relief in consumer protection, securities, and health care matters as well as commercial contractual disputes.

Mr. Wing has been a frequent panelist at professional conferences relating to receiverships, consumer protection, securities and bankruptcy. He has also participated in training professionals from Eastern Europe, Africa, and the Middle East in American commercial enforcement law.

Mr. Wing has been recognized regularly by Chambers USA – America’s Leading Business Lawyers, and Utah Business magazine’s Legal Elite, and is rated AV by Martindale Hubbell.
