Austin J. Riter Elected New Member of American Law Institute (ALI)

Trial attorney Austin J. Riter is among the 34 newly elected members of the American Law Institute (ALI).  ALI, based in Philadelphia, “is the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and improve the law,” according to its website.  The members of the Institute influence the development of the drafting and publishing of restatements of the law, model codes, and principles of law that contribute to legal scholarship and education.

The diverse group of new ALI members, comprised of legal practitioners, judges, and academics from all over the country and the world, were confidentially nominated by their peers, vetted by the ALI Membership Committee, and elected by the ALI Council on July 19, 2018.

Riter, who was the only newly elected member from Utah, said he is very honored and humbled to have been elected.  “I am grateful for the privilege of contributing to the important work of the Institute and to working with and learning from its distinguished members, particularly with respect to projects concerning constitutional and employment law.”
