Claire McGuire is a member of Parr Brown’s commercial litigation group and specializes in election law, fraudulent/voidable transactions, First Amendment and complex contractual disputes. Claire’s election law practice stems from a lifelong passion for politics. In her life before law, Claire was a political operative, running campaigns all over the country. She worked on races ranging from school board to U.S. President. Her career in politics affords her a practical inclination when assisting clients to comply with campaign finance rules, interacting effectively with election officials and even seeking government reforms through initiatives, referenda, and other ballot measures.
Claire’s experience extends to a broad range of commercial disputes in state and federal courts. Her practice includes First Amendment litigation having represented clients in a variety of matters, including defamation, open records, access to court and governmental proceedings, reporter’s privilege, online liability, copyright, and other related areas. She has particular experience litigating voidable/fraudulent transfer cases. While at Parr Brown, Claire has assisted Receivers in recovering hundreds of millions of dollars of fraudulently transferred funds for the benefit of victims of Ponzi schemes and other fraud. Claire also commonly assists her clients with interpreting and enforcing complex contractual provisions.
Claire has been selected multiple times as a Super Lawyers Mountain States Rising Star and included in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch. Claire serves as a mentor for the Utah Center for Legal Inclusion, as a member of Utah Women Lawyers, and volunteers for the ACLU’s judicial bypass program.
Before joining Parr Brown Gee & Loveless, Claire earned her J.D. from S.J. Quinney College of Law graduating with High Honors. During law school, Claire was a judicial intern for Chief Judge Shelby (2020), represented detainees seeking asylum at an immigration detention center in Pearsall Texas, competed on the school’s national moot court team and was a member of the Utah Law Review.
An avid music lover, salsa dancer, skier and whitewater rafter, Ms. McGuire loves working with artists, athletes, and musicians, helping them navigate legal issues they come encounter from contracts to copyright. Claire hails from Montana and feels right at home nestled in the mountains of Utah.
