About Daniel J. Nelson

Daniel Nelson is a member of the firm’s commercial and appellate litigation groups. His practice includes a broad range of civil litigation matters, including contract disputes, collections, and constitutional challenges to state action. He has also worked on complex federal receivership litigation.

Before joining the firm, Daniel clerked for the Honorable David C. Nye of the United States District Court for the District of Idaho. The clerkship provided experience with complex federal litigation and sharpened his analytical and writing skills, which he now brings to his practice on behalf of clients.

Daniel earned his J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 2023, where he served as a Senior Editor of the BYU Law Review and as a student mentor. During law school, he interned for Justice Matthew B. Durrant of the Utah Supreme Court and Judge Howard C. Nielson, Jr. of the United States District Court for the District of Utah. He also authored College Athletes, TikTok, and Title IX: An Empirical Exploration of the Title IX Implications of the NCAA’s New NIL Policy, published in the Sports Lawyers Journal.

Prior to law school, Daniel received his B.S. in Psychology from BYU, graduating magna cum laude. He is conversational in Spanish. Colleagues and clients appreciate his responsiveness, conscientiousness, and practical approach to resolving disputes. Outside the office, he enjoys pickleball and golf.
