Jon Routson is a member of the firm’s corporate, mergers, acquisitions, and securities groups, focusing on business, commercial, and transactional matters.
Jon graduated from the University of California, Irvine School of Law (UCI) with pro bono honors. While enrolled at UCI, Jon represented numerous nonprofit corporations and for-profit businesses through UCI Law’s Community and Economic Development Clinic, Startup and Small Business Clinic, and through his pro bono work. He provided guidance on an array of matters including incorporation, corporate governance, private placements, and secured transactions. Jon served as an executive co-chair of the Public Interest Law Fund, the largest student organization at UCI, and received the best brief award during UCI’s annual moot court competition. Additionally, he received two Faculty Awards for obtaining the highest grade in Mergers and Acquisitions and Law of Sales, along with several Dean’s Awards for obtaining the second highest grade in Community and Economic Development Clinic, Property, Negotiation, and Life Cycle of a Business.
Prior to working as an attorney, Jon attained the rank of captain as a combat engineer officer in the United States Marine Corps. His billets included platoon commander, senior military engineer advisor to the Armed Forces of Liberia, aide-de-camp to the commanding general of the 1st Marine Logistics Group, and the Region 9 (Central America, the Caribbean, and Canada) operations officer for the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group.
