Chaunceton Bird is a member of Parr Brown’s commercial litigation team and specializes in construction law and product liability. Chaunceton has been selected as a Super Lawyers Mountain States Rising Star® each year from 2023 through 2026, and was included in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch®, 2024, 2025, and 2026 Editions.
He has experience litigating a broad range of commercial disputes in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. His practice includes work for local and national clients in the construction and manufacturing sectors, including builders, general contractors, utility providers, vehicle manufacturers, car dealerships, and motorcycle retailers. Chaunceton commonly defends his clients against allegations of construction defects, product defects, premises liability, breach of warranty, and claims arising under Utah’s Lemon Law. He also represents manufacturers of worker safety equipment (particularly masks and respirators), consumer goods, and component parts.
As a litigator in Parr Brown’s construction law group, Chaunceton represents owners and contractors throughout the construction lifecycle—from contract negotiation and project administration through closeout and, where unavoidable, litigation. His practice encompasses procurement and project-delivery issues, payment applications, preliminary notices, lien claims, change orders and construction change directives, scope disputes, requests for information and submittals, claims of defective or nonconforming work, retainage, warranty claims, critical-path delays, cost overruns, substantial completion, liquidated damages determinations, and default or termination. Chaunceton’s litigation experience gives him practical insight into contract drafting, documentation, notice, risk allocation, and claims-management practices that help protect project progress, control costs, preserve remedies, and avoid or efficiently resolve disputes.
Before joining Parr Brown Gee & Loveless, Chaunceton was a judicial law clerk for Justice Paige Petersen of the Utah Supreme Court (2017–2019), and a judicial intern for Justice Deno Himonas of the Utah Supreme Court (2015).
