Patricia Christensen has focused her practice, for more than 40 years, in the area of complex commercial litigation, and has particular experience and expertise in handling product liability and toxic tort defense litigation, arbitration, mediation and counseling.
She has substantial experience representing product manufacturers in the pharmaceutical, medical product, building product, automotive, banking, chemical, industrial equipment, industrial fluid, oil and gas, recreational equipment and household appliance industries. She has also served as an arbitrator for the Private Adjudication Center at Duke University, resolving product liability claims against trust funds established by the United States Bankruptcy Courts.
In addition, Ms. Christensen has represented a broad range of commercial clients in litigation relating to antitrust, trademark, construction, contract, real estate, securities, banking and environmental issues.
Ms. Christensen is a past president of the law firm, a former Judge pro tem of the Third Judicial District Court, a former adjunct professor of law at the University of Utah’s S. J. Quinney College of Law, and a former legislative assistant in the United States Senate.
Ms. Christensen served as a Director of Meritas Law Firms Worldwide, as well as serving as co-chair of its Litigation Section and Western U. S. Region.
She is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and an officer and director of a number of charitable, civic and professional organizations.
In 1992, Ms. Christensen was honored as Utah’s Woman Lawyer of the Year; and in 1996, she received the Utah State Bar Association’s Dorathy Merrill Brothers Award for her efforts to promote the advancement of women in the profession. In 2003, she was recognized by Utah Business Magazine as one of Utah’s Women to Watch, for her on-going efforts to help shape the future of her community; and in 2011, she received Women Lawyers of Utah’s Mentoring Award. In November 2016, she received the Federal Bar Association’s Distinguished Service Award; in February 2017, she received the Utah State Bar Association’s Charlotte L. Miller Mentoring Award; and in 2018, she was awarded the YWCA’s Outstanding Achievement Award in Law. She has been routinely recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America as a member of Utah’s Legal Elite, and as a Mountain States Super Lawyers in Business Litigation. Ms. Christensen has been included in the 2022 and 2023 editions of The Best Lawyers in America® for her work in Product Liability Litigation-Plaintiffs.
