Parr Brown Gee & Loveless (www.parrbrown.com) today announced Nathanael Paynter has joined the commercial law firm as an associate lawyer.Paynter previously worked as a summer associate at Parr Brown and at Baker Botts in Houston. In these positions, he wrote multiple memoranda on topics such as conversion, duress, easements, contract interpretation and other evidentiary issues and assisted in drafting summary judgments and other preliminary motions. Paynter also worked as a legal intern at Microsoft where he drafted licensing agreements and other transactional documents as well as memoranda covering copyrights, software licensing and privacy.“I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with great firms and companies, but Parr Brown provided the type and size of environment I wanted,” said Paynter. “The collaborative atmosphere and mentoring from lawyers who are among the best in their practice areas gives me the opportunity to immediately contribute in a meaningful way and develop my skills and expertise as a professional.”Paynter received his Juris Doctor from The University of Chicago Law School where he was the executive editor of The University of Chicago Law Forum. While in law school, Paynter received the Sidley Austin Prize and the Joseph Henry Beale Prize for his brief writing and legal writing. As an assistant to Professor Tom Ginsburg, he helped draft and make recommendations to the governments of South Sudan and Somalia regarding constitutional design.
